Executive Biographies

Mark J. McCormack
Steve Rapoza

The principal of Omnion Consulting, LLC offers the complementary skills of a seasoned project manager who has managed multi-million dollar global projects and an engineering expert whose focus is on Oracle Applications.

Omnion leverages the experience and knowledge of its founder through its network of superior associate consultants. Consultants are chosen for specific projects, based on prior experience and the talents needed to complete the project successfully.

Omnion is currently engaged with a global mid-market manufacturer on a BPI (Business Process Improvement) initiative. This company's key business strategy is to get to a common platform for doing business world-wide. Omnion is modeling, documenting, and helping implement the company's future processes in order to leverage leading practices from our lean process templates as well as from their own current best practices.

Mark J. McCormack, Managing Partner

Mark has more than six years of experience as a Technical Manager and Consultant for Oracle Consulting, where he focused on supply chain applications. He served as Lead Consultant, implementing the Oracle Suite for a billion-dollar power supply backup manufacturer, and as Senior Principal Consultant for various Oracle projects, including implementations for a medical device company, a biotechnology company, a multi-billion dollar test-equipment manufacturer, and various manufacturing and distribution clients.

"For the medical device company, we started with three distinct businesses, each with different platforms and different business processes," McCormack said. "By bringing them to a point where they had common, improved business processes, all on the same Oracle platform, we streamlined operations and helped the company operate more efficiently - and at a lower cost."

The team approach worked especially well for the $200 million company, which specializes in diagnostics for women's healthcare, because "we were able to take the best ideas from everyone and put them into practice."

Mark believes it is important to modify projects to suit client goals. For a test-equipment manufacturer, for example, process improvements and an Oracle supply chain application improved the company's communication with suppliers to the point where the company could significantly reduce inventory and react faster to changes in demand.

Mark developed a complex business process model for an American company that manufactured electronic switches and breakers for the telecommunications, marine, and automotive industries. The company's manufacturing plants were based in Mexico and products were distributed throughout the world. By using process flows, the U.S. and Mexico teams transcended language issues and quickly started addressing the clients global needs. Utilizing the common tool of business process flows, the international teams were able to rapidly determine the best business processes that would be used throughout the company.

He also served as Accounting Manager for Fiberprep, Inc.; Controller and Operations Manager for Scope Communications, Inc., and Depot Manager for Autographix, Inc. He was the third employee at Scope; by the time he left, the company had grown to 25 employees and was eventually sold to Hewlett Packard. He earned his MBA from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College and his bachelor's degree from the Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Stephen Rapoza, Partner

Steve brings more than 14 years of consulting, information systems management, and engineering experience to Omnion. The last 10 years of Steve’s career have been focused on implementing and supporting the Oracle Applications. During his tenure with Omnion Consulting and previously with Oracle Consulting Services, Steve has demonstrated an extensive knowledge of Oracle’s Discrete, Process and Project Manufacturing solutions as well as Oracle’s Advanced Supply Chain Planning product. He has put this knowledge to work by implementing manufacturing and supply chain planning solutions for clients in various industries including software, medical device manufacturing, communications, consumer products, general manufacturing and distribution. Steve’s combination of functional, technical and project management skills make him valuable in all project phases.

“My greatest strengths are my ability to work with a client to quickly understand their needs, and then develop and analyze solution alternatives that leverage the Oracle Applications framework,” Rapoza said.

Steve was the Applications Development & Support Manager at American Biophysics Corporation where he managed functional and technical projects involving the full ERP and CRM footprints of the Oracle Applications. In addition to providing the primary functional application support, Steve developed and deployed Workflow and PL/SQL extensions, custom forms, and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) solutions for American Biophysics.

Steve also worked as a Manufacturing Engineer for Amtrol Incorporated where he managed multi-million dollar capital projects. Besides his engineering duties, he served as the manufacturing super-user during a full life-cycle Oracle Applications implementation at Amtrol. He also served as the internal subject matter expert for manufacturing and supply chain planning while implementing the Oracle Applications for one of Amtrol’s subsidiaries.

“Having been through several implementation projects and working in multiple post go-live environments, I have learned first hand that the key to a successful, sustainable solution is to design robust business processes that are understood and embraced by the organization,” Rapoza said. “While understanding of the features and functions of the software is certainly important, comprehension of the business processes is essential for long-term success.”

Steve earned his M.S. in Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island. He also holds a certificate in the Practice of Management from Brown University.
