To National Capital Oracle User Group
Apps Help Employees Take Orders From Customers, Place Orders With Suppliers

Mark J. McCormack, managing partner of Omnion Consulting, LLC, will present, “Make Ordering More Efficient With Oracle’s Configurator, iProcurement,” to the National Capital Oracle User Group (Nat-Cap OUG) at 5 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010 at the Northrop Grumman building, 12011 Sunset Hills Road (across from Oracle Corporation).

Oracle® Configurator is used when taking customer orders and Oracle® iProcurement is used for placing orders with suppliers.  Both applications increase efficiency.

Registration for the free event is available at omnionconsulting.eventbrite.com.  Registration at the event, which is sponsored by the Nat-Cap OUG, begins at 4:30 p.m. and the presentation will run from 5 to 7 p.m.

Oracle® Configurator is designed to help clients with complex products to take orders and configure solutions quickly and accurately.  Oracle® iProcurement provides centralized control of purchasing, while allowing employees to create, manage and track their orders.  It ensures that policies and preferred pricing agreements are reflected in every transaction.

“Both applications provide significant process improvements that can save time and money,” according to McCormack.  “They can help to increase efficiency and eliminate waste, which is especially important in today’s economy.”

Both Oracle applications integrate with the E-Business Suite.

Omnion Consulting, an Oracle Partner, specializes in consulting, process improvements and implementations relating to Oracle E-Business Suite and related applications.  It has offices in Washington, D.C. and Woburn, Mass.

Omnion Consulting Offering Oracle® Configurator Implementation
Enables Companies to Place Orders, Configure Products Quickly and Accurately

Omnion Consulting, LLC announced today that it is now offering implementation of the Oracle® Configurator, which can help clients with complex products to take orders and configure solutions quickly and accurately.

Configurator is ideal for companies that produce medical devices and other complex products that can be configured in many different ways.

“The Configurator is in demand in today’s marketplace,” according to Omnion President Mark McCormack, “because it provides significant process improvements that can save time and money, while ensuring that customers have a product configured in the manner that best meets their needs.”

Advantages of using Configurator include fewer errors when placing orders, quicker filling of orders, fewer returns and improved customer satisfaction.  In addition, Engineering Change Orders (ECO) are automated and resulting information is shared throughout the enterprise.

“In many companies, change orders are written on scraps of paper or kept in a file that is not available to everyone, so knowledge of how configurations are structured walks out the door every night,” according to McCormack.  “Making such information available to everyone instantly and automatically saves time and greatly reduces errors.”

Oracle Configurator, which integrates with the E-Business Suite, was programmed with specific business rules to automate the configuration process, ensuring that all products are configured appropriately.

Hologic staff taking sales orders no longer have to worry about mixing and matching components that are inappropriate for that installation or redundant, and instead of taking several minutes to fill an order, with many back and forth communications with the sales force, internal staff can often complete the process in seconds.
